Occupational Health Nurse Clinician Training Session: Mood and Menopause in the Workplace

Mood changes in menopause are often underdiagnosed or misunderstood. Clinicians trained in these areas can better recognise symptoms and provide holistic care.

​

In this candid talk with our mental health nurse specialist trainer, she highlights endocrine disorders that impact mood and exacerbate menopause symptoms such as PMDD and PME.

​

This talk delivers takeaway clinical tools, up-to-date resources, and is purposefully designed to allow open clinical discussion. There is also a Q&A for clinicians to ask questions and discuss cases if required.

Trainer: Esther Kuria, Nurse Consultant – Gynaecology

 

Esther is a Nurse Consultant at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing 30 years of nursing experience and over two decades specialising in women’s health. She is passionate about advancing compassionate, high-quality care, improving menstrual health awareness, and supporting workplace wellbeing initiatives. Esther is also dedicated to mentoring future healthcare leaders and shaping best practice through education and collaboration.

​​Menstruation and Menopause Champion Training in the workplace for employees.
Time duration: 3 hours

 

This comprehensive training program is designed to educate, build awareness, reduce stigma, and equip participants with information and tools to support and signpost colleagues. 


The purpose of this training is to empower participants to become champions of menstruation and menopause inclusivity in the workplace. This, enabling participants to lead efforts in creating a 
workplace culture that is both a supportive and a compassionate environment.


Overview of course content: Key components. 

  • Build awareness by providing foundational knowledge about menstruation and menopause. Focusing on both the physical and psychological impact. 

  • Break stigma. Understand challenges and social misconceptions that employees face.

  • Understand the intersection of hormonal health and mental health. Explore common challenges. (PMS, PMDD, anxiety, depression, period poverty, cultural stigmas). 

  • Equip champions with skills to provide informed, empathic support, when to signpost and when to seek medical help.

  • To develop strategies. A practical tool kit for workplace support.

 

Management training session: Menstruation and Menopause in the workplace.
Time duration: 90 minutes


This training session is designed specifically for managers to create a workplace environment that supports menstruation and menopause, employee wellbeing and productivity. The purpose 
is to foster awareness, reduce stigma and provide practical solutions for employees and employers alike. 


By implementing management training a workplace can ensure inclusivity, promote health and empower employees to thrive professionally while managing menstruation and menopause.
