Trainer: Dr Elinor Jones – a doctor specialising in Ophthalmology, currently practising in hospital eye clinics. She has a keen interest in teaching alongside her clinical work, having achieved a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education in addition to her medical degree.

About the course

This interactive course is designed to broaden your understanding of visual testing methods and explore their relevance within the occupational health setting. It’s ideal for occupational health professionals who wish to strengthen their knowledge and practical skills around vision and eye health in the workplace.

Please note: while the course will cover general learning outcomes, it will not include occupation-specific guidelines.

However, we can offer bespoke courses for larger groups who wish to cover specific occupation-related guidance in more detail.

Learning objectives:

•  Appreciate the basic anatomy of the eye

• Gain knowledge of common eye disorders that may arise in your working environment

• Conduct visual function tests (including depth perception and colour vision), and understand their relevance to different job roles and eye diseases

• Understand the importance and application of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for eye safety

• Review DVLA guidance on common eye conditions relevant to car, lorry, coach, and bus drivers
