Dizziness in the Workplace: Rapid Assessment & HSE-Aligned Management for Occupational Health Professionals

Online course date: Thursday 12th November 12.30pm-2.30pm

Who Is This Course For?
This concise online course is designed for occupational health nurses, physicians, and allied OH professionals who regularly assess employees reporting dizziness, especially in roles involving safety-critical tasks. It is ideal for practitioners needing a focused, practical update on rapid assessment, risk management, and HSE-consistent decision-making.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge
• Describe the key types of dizziness and recognise red flags relevant to workplace health and safety.
• Understand the HSE legal framework supporting OH decision-making for dizziness cases.

Assessment
• Conduct a rapid, structured history and basic screening assessment suitable for remote or onsite OH consultations.
• Identify occupational factors that may contribute to or worsen dizziness.

Risk Management
• Make proportionate, defensible fitness-for-work decisions, particularly in safety-critical environments.
• Recommend appropriate temporary restrictions or adjustments aligned with HSE guidance.

Professional Practice
• Know when to escalate cases for specialist medical review.
• Communicate risks and recommendations clearly to managers while maintaining clinical confidentiality.

The Ear Beyond Audiometry

A course designed to give extra detailed information beyond performing audiometry to help guide patients and clients in greater detail beyond the audiogram.

- An overview on how hearing aids are fitted to suit a person’s hearing.

- Considerations to make when wearing a hearing aid and working in noise.
